Lourdes Hospital Hosts Medical Mission Event at Endicott

ENDICOTT, N.Y. –

More than 60 people took advantage of medical care at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott. The episode is part of a Medical Mission sponsored by Lourdes Hospital.

This is the fourth occasion to happen in Broome County in the past two years, in regions including Endicott, Binghamton, and Owego. The assignment was completely free to the general public and open to anyone.

It supplied a wide variety of health services such as foot care, flu shots, mammography, and general medical screenings. In addition, it provided financial counselling and support services. It also included a medication take-back occasion and completely free showers to those who wanted it.

“We all know that there is a need in the community for a lot of services and health care being one of these for our people that is living in poverty. Part of the assignment at Lourdes will be to serve individuals who are more vulnerable and poor.   We find it very important to be here and attempt to maintain a community in a way that is available for individuals to reach us. We are aware that its sometimes hard for our solutions,” explained Susan Bretscher, Chief Mission Integration Officer for Lourdes.

According to the New York State Community Action Association, Lots of Individuals are needing. The Broome County poverty rate for 2017 is 17.8 percent. 24.8% children, 12.9% adults, and 7.8% Senior Citizens ages 65 and over.

Bretscher says Lourdes will continue to get out into the community to provide solutions where ever they could.
